Thanks DoC

Although this topic has been covered to some extent in this  and this  post by our friendly neighborhood  ctgolfer I am posting this so that FW members can take full advantage of this great deal. Terms says limit is 5 but people have been able to purchase up to TEN tablets.

Get up to $40 off a Fire Tablet when you use at least one American Express point as part of your purchase.

All-New Fire 7 – $20 Off From $29.99 (Orig $49.99) Enter promo code FIRE7TAB at checkout. NOW $14.99 with prime
All-New Fire HD 8 – $30 Off From $49.99 (orig $79.99) when you enter promo code FIRE8TAB at checkout. Now $24.99 with prime.

To use one American Express Membership Rewards point:
Make sure you’ve linked it here
Click apply rewards points
Select how many you want to use (just one point to trigger this offer)

It also stacks with PRIMEVITAMIN and PRIMESNACK promo.
For example, you can get $25 calcium pills and $9 trail mix for FREE with the purchase of FHD8.

Here are the steps:
1. Link one Amex card MR to Amazon account (https://www.amazon.com/membershiprewards).
3. Add HD8 or Fire 7 tablets to cart (Prime member –> $25 discount per tablet shown).
4. Add one of the eligible snacks to cart.
4. Add one of the eligible vitamins to cart.
4. Apply $0.01 of Amex MR.
5. Apply promo code FIRE8TAB ($30 discount per tablet shown) or FIRE7TAB ($20 discount per tablet shown)

Thank you for posting this as I missed the original OP. In for 5. (wouldn't let me do 7)

My total for the the trail mix and the Fire 8 Kids tablet (FIRE8KIDS) is coming to $101.34, because the tablet price is starting at $129.99 and not $89.99 (described in DoctorOfCredit).  If I use the Fire 8 HD non-kids, I get a similar problem, it shows $79.99 and not $49.99.

I tried going directly to Amazon and going through the AMEX benefits Amazon link.  What link are you guys following to see the discounted base prices?  When I use the direct link shown in the DofC article, I get the message    Thank you for your interest in this offer. Unfortunately, you are not eligible for this offer.so maybe this is directed.

It was supposed to a targeted offer but it worked for me and I was not targeted.
Try unlinking and linking again your Amex MR points card to your account and make that card a default payment option..

Maybe that's the problem.  I just enrolled today, perhaps it needs a little time... though it did find my points just fine.
Thanks, I'll try.

works with Amazon Elements (for vitamins).  Limited selection, but hey, still free.  Seems to be one package free (up to $x).

I put Vit K ($15) and D ($10), and it only discounted $10.  When I removed Vit D, my discount was $15.

That explains the "fire" sale but what is your source?
